Verify a card
Verifying a card proves that the card is yours. You need it for automatic top-ups.
Steps
- Open Billing and choose Verify a card.
- Fill in the card. Your bank asks you to confirm through 3-D Secure, usually in your banking app.
- Back on the Billing screen you see the card with its last four digits.
The reserved amount
To check the card we reserve a small amount and release it at once. Nothing is charged. Some banks show the reservation in your app for a few days before it disappears; that is up to the bank.
What we keep
The brand of the card, the last four digits, its country and type, the result of the 3-D Secure check, a risk score and a technical fingerprint, which we use to recognise a card that was disputed before. We never see or store the card number.
When verification does not work
- Your bank must support 3-D Secure for the card. Automatic top-ups only use a card your bank confirmed through 3-D Secure.
- Wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay are not accepted.
- After several attempts in a short time you have to wait before trying again.
- You can always top up by iDEAL (accounts in euros) or with another card.
