Save a script for new servers
A saved script is a cloud-config document you keep in your account. When you order a server you pick it, and the server runs it on its first boot. It saves you pasting the same setup every time.
Save one
- Open Compute tools in the console.
- Choose New script.
- Give it a name, and a description if you like.
- Paste the document. It starts with
#cloud-config. See Your own cloud-init for what it can hold. - Choose Save script.
Use it
- Order a server as usual.
- Open Advanced deployment options and switch on Cloud-init.
- Under Start from a saved script, pick yours. The document appears in the field below; change it for this one server if you need to.
The name of the server and the SSH keys you chose are put on top of the document, so a script cannot lock you out of your own server.
Change or delete it
Choose Edit or Delete next to the script under Compute tools. A change applies to servers you order afterwards. Servers that already ran the script keep what it did; it runs once, on the first boot.
