Create a server like this one
Create a server like this opens a new order that already has the configuration of a server you have. You check it, change what you want, and start the new server as with any order. Nothing is built before you choose Start server.
Open the order
- Open Servers in the console.
- Open the menu of the server and choose Create a server like this. On the page of a server the same is under More server actions.
- The order opens with the message "The order has the configuration of web-1. Check it and start the new server."
What the order takes over
- the plan, the location and the operating system;
- the time zone and the choice to e-mail the root password;
- the SSH keys of the server that are still on your account;
- the cloud-init script.
Whether backups are on is taken over as well.
The new server goes into the same project.
The hostname gets the next number: a server called web-1 gives web-2. Check the name before you start and change it if you want another one.
When the plan or the system of the server can no longer be ordered, the message says so: check both before you start.
What it does not take over
- The data on the disk. The new server starts clean from the operating system, as any new server does.
- The label, the notes and the pin. Give the new server its own on its Settings tab, see Give a server a label, notes and a pin.
Start the server
Choose Continue to review (or Continue to your account when something is still needed there), check the review and choose Start server. The new server is billed by the hour from the moment it runs, as every server.
When your level is full, the order stops at your account with the number of servers your level allows. Top up to raise your level, or remove a server first. See Levels and limits.
