Give a server a label, notes and a pin
A label, a note and a pin are only for you, and for your team when you work with one. None of it goes to the server itself and none of it costs anything.
Give a server a label and a note
- Open Servers in the console, open the server and go to its Settings tab.
- In the block with the label and the notes, fill in:
- Label: a word or two to group servers by, such as Production or Development. At most 24 characters: letters, digits, spaces and the marks
. _ - / & +. - Notes: what the server is for, who looks after it, where its configuration lives. At most 2000 characters. Never put a password here.
- Label: a word or two to group servers by, such as Production or Development. At most 24 characters: letters, digits, spaces and the marks
- Choose Save. The message says "Saved for web-1."
A label that is not a word, such as <b>prod</b>, is refused with the reason.
Find servers by their label
On the Servers screen the label stands after the operating system of the server, for example "Ubuntu 24.04 / Production".
- The filter All labels lists the labels you use. Choose one to see only the servers that carry it.
- The search field finds a server by its label too.
Pin a server to the top
- On the Servers screen, open the menu of the server and choose Pin to the top. On the page of a server the same is under More server actions.
- The server moves to the top of the list and gets a pin mark next to its name.
With several pinned servers, the one you pinned last is at the top. To take a pin away, choose Unpin in the same menu.
Through the API
With an API token, PATCH /servers/{server} changes the label, the notes and the pin, alone or together with the name:
curl -X PATCH -H "Authorization: Bearer stv_..." -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"label":"Development","notes":"Test copy of the shop.","pinned":true}' \
https://api.stavane.com/v1/servers/<server id>
Every server in GET /servers carries its label, notes and pinned.
