Group your servers in projects
A project groups servers, for example per customer, per environment such as production and test, or per application. It is a label to keep order: it does not separate servers from each other on the network, and it does not change who can reach them. A server is in one project at most, and a project costs nothing.
Make a project
- Open Organization in the console and go to Projects.
- Choose Create project, give it a name of at most 40 characters and, if you like, a description, and choose Save project.
- Choose Manage on the new project, then Assign resources, tick its servers and choose Save servers.
A server that was in another project moves to this one; the dialog says so before you save. An account has at most 50 projects.
Other ways to put a server in a project
- On the Settings tab of a server, in the block Project, label and notes.
- On a new order, under the advanced deployment options: every server of that order goes into the project you choose.
- Create a server like this takes the project of the server along.
Find the servers of a project
The server list has a filter All projects. Choose a project to see its servers only, or In no project for the servers that have none.
Change or delete a project
Choose Manage on the project. Edit changes the name and the description. Delete removes the project only, after you confirm: its servers keep running, in no project.
Through the API
With an API token a script can do the same:
| Method and path | What it does |
|---|---|
GET /projects |
Your projects |
POST /projects |
Make a project (name, optional description) |
PATCH /projects/{project} |
Change the name or the description |
DELETE /projects/{project} |
Delete the project; its servers stay, in no project |
PUT /projects/{project}/servers |
Set the servers of the project |
GET /servers?project=<id> |
The servers of one project, or none for servers in no project |
A server has a project field, and POST /servers and PATCH /servers/{server} take one; null takes a server out of its project.
